PIONEERING THE POTENTIAL 2022 – THE XYLO SESSIONS

We are pleased to be supporting Pioneering the Potential 2022 – The Xylo Sessions. 

The Xylo Sessions Wood+ evenings cast a spotlight on timber and post carbon natural building culture, highlighting projects, materials, research, and related initiatives, and building on previous Pioneering the Potential events in 2021 and 2019.

Timber frame & carpentry renaissance @StudioHardie (details below)

Charley Brentnall – Founder of the original oak framersCarpenter Oak & Woodland,instrumental in the British timber frame renaissance. And more recently co-founder of Xylotek.

Sally Daniels– from tangentfieldexperimental community architects and live workshop specialist with the University of the West of England s Hands on BristolMakingLewes and Fourth Door’s Roots Architecture at WOMAD for the last ten years.

Dylan Walker and Paddy Cox, Built By Artizans   traditional carpenters and timber framers from West Sussex, Walker and Cox will be talking about their latest project, Watersmeet Barn, Emsworth.

The Lewes Maker Space

A Maker Space for the 21st Century

Making Lewes is developing plans for an original and distinctive Lewes Maker Space.

With Lewes District Council’s rethink decision on the future of the Turkish Baths (see here), on thursday, 23rd February 2017, Making Lewes will be submitting a more detailed proposals for our envisaging of the Maker Space.

The Lewes Maker Space will be a community and educational hub for the town and environs while also acting at the national and international level.

DESIGN & MAKE LEWES WORKSHOP

17-18th September, 10am – 5.30pm

VENUE: William Hardie Design forecourt

Get sawing, hammering and nailing and come and join MakingLewes’s first design & make workshop. In collaboration with Hands on Bristol & UWE.

The Brief:

To design, make, assemble and inaugurate [or launch] a unique mobile community structure.

The structure will be demountable and easily transportable. 

It will be usable in different areas of the community as a temporary pop-up space.

10.00am start on Wednesday 17th. Make Sure you wear appropriate working and making clothing
